Pregnancy Support

Pregnancy Support - Acupuncture can alleviate many of the unwanted symptoms that can accompany pregnancy. The most common issues I treat are morning sickness, musculoskeletal pain, and stress/anxiety, although there is a long list of other symptoms acupuncture can effectively treat.

We do live in Texas. For those trying to avoid taking meds, I can effectively treat congestion from allergies, sinus infections or colds.

Acupuncture, when administered during the last 4-6 weeks of your pregnancy, can also prepare you for a more efficient labor.

In addition, acupuncture is an effective modality for the treatment of postpartum depression and childbirth recovery.

Labor Induction

In TCM (traditional Chinese medicine), pregnancy is yin. Imagine a seed in the darkness of the earth gaining enough potential to break through as a young plant. (Chinese medicine draws a lot from nature metaphors.) Labor, in contrast, is yang.

At this point of the pregnancy, the cervix begins to thin out (effacement) and open (dilation) to make room for the baby's transition through the birth canal. With the use of acupuncture points, I can help the baby descend, aid in cervical dilation, enhance the efficiency of contractions and promote a more efficient labor.
